BLACK DIAMONDS

2005 - 2008

In these paintings, shapes and lines sit on top of the grid and create repetition and pattern. Black is the dominant color and the grid below is revealed through pulsating lines. The paintings are symmetrical and some remind me of plants. Grid bands wrap around the sides and the picture plane is revealed in the corners. These paintings move forward in layers from the picture plane into the space.

JEZEBEL

In Jezebel, I begin to work with the long, tall shape that I use in my later work.

THREE SISTERS

These paintings continue to employ the long tall shape but they are not as large as Jezebel. Three Sisters are related paintings. The grid wraps around the sides defining the location of layers.
